CALL TO ACTION

Sex ed affects every single one of us in some form. If not you specifically, then somebody around you. And everyone no matter what beliefs, sexuality, or gender, deserves the right to an honest sexual education.

Comprehensive sex ed is what we should be advocating for our children!  The responsible and reliable information that they will need in future relationships.

The crazy thing is, teaching students about sex and contraceptives is proven to delay a student’s sexual debut; “Hundreds of studies have shown that well-designed and well implemented sex education can reduce risk behavior and support positive sexual health outcomes among teens, such as reducing teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted infection rates.”

Some examples proven by comparing comprehensive sex educated students and non comprehensive sex educated students include:

• Delaying the age of first sexual intercourse

• Reducing the overall number of sexual partners

• Reducing unprotected sex and increasing use of condoms and contraception

• Reducing unintended teen pregnancy

• Reducing rates of teen HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs)

Throughout my research I am finally able to get an understanding.

The amount of money funneled into these programs is not worth the result.  Children are liable to be given false information, not enough information, or no education at all.

This is not what you want for your child.

Comprehensive sex ed ensures that although sex might not be the most fun subject to talk about, the details will be covered.

Stand up for your kids, LGBT kids, families, and friends.

The only way things will change is by people like me and the person who’s reading this right now!

So this is my message to you.  Whether you are a adult, a parent/guardian of a student, or a mom to be trying to find information, this is for you.  Sex ed affects every single one of us in some form.  If not you specifically, then somebody around you.  And everyone, no matter beliefs, sexuality, or gender, deserves the right to an honest sexual education.  Do not let these programs influence the future health of our children.

Inform them of all the tiny details nobody really wants to hear, and even tell them it’s okay to remain abstinent.

Thank you so much, I hope to impact your perspective middle school and high school sex ed!
